"MUMMY!"

Well, that had been nice while it lasted. "No, go away!" Like that would work.

"Mummy Mummy Alex won't let me use her computer!"

"She's gonna break it!" Alex protested.

"But I wanna plaaaaaaaay with it," was Cissney's reasoning. "I won't break it! Much."

"You will so, and MY mummy said if I break this one I can't have a new one until Uncle Mindy grows a sense of humor!"

Jenny snickered into her pillow and muttered, "Uncle Mindy." That was almost good enough to get her up. Midnighter was never going to hear the end of it.

Just as soon as she got out of bed.

"MUMMY!" Cissney shrieked again. "I wanna play with the laptop NOW!"

Jenny finally managed to pry her face out of the pillow. "Sometimes we don't get what we want!"

Both of her daughters stared at her like she was crazy.

"Right, why would you two blighters understand that concept?" Jenny sighed. "And I'm not your mummy!"

"Are so!" the girls chorused, momentarily in agreement. Ah, sibling unity.

Jenny groaned. "So never having sex with a man again."

"That's what you say every time," Alex said with a roll of her eyes.

"Right," Jenny groaned, "I'm up. Cissney, you can't play with your sister's laptop. Because I said so. Now just let Mummy have a smoke, and then we'll go have ice cream! And then," she added, the glint of evil in her eye, "we'll go find your daddies."

As soon as the cigarettes made an appearance, two tiny voices chorused, "Can I have one?"

They'd better hope they'd inherited their mother's iron constitution, or they were going to have lung cancer before they were twenty.
